Day 3: By the Power of Grayskull...
When I was little, like before Kindergarten-little, no toy was more important to me than my He-Man 'guys'. He-Man was life, life was He-Man. I couldn't go anywhere without him, and all wasn't right in the world until he had been returned to his rightful home, Castle Grayskull.
For a child, at least for me as a young child, there was nothing more exciting than when Santa brought me an actual Castle Grayskull to house He-Man, his allies and his foes. It was the sort of uncontainable excitement that still sticks with me almost 30 years later.
When I think about the feeling of the actual toys in my hands, it seems like I can still remember how they felt. I may not remember, or have ever known, how to spell their names, but I do remember them.
I remember the time my He-Man fought off Skeletor, Hordak and Cobra Kahn (his three fiercest enemies) all at once. I remember when Battle Cat and Panthor had an intense race around the living room, leaving a path of destruction in their wake. I remember using my He-Man 'guys' to re-enact football plays I'd watch on TV, Man-at-Arms was the Fridge barreling through for a touchdown in the Super Bowl; Beast Man was Walter Payton, too strong and agile for anyone to tackle. It's amazing the details that can stick with you over time.
My He-Man toys made me feel like I was powerful, they made me feel like I could do things that required super-feats of strength and wit. Over time, they always had the comfortable feeling of 'home' when they were in my hands. All of these toys are probably still stashed in my parents' house somewhere, I think I should try and find them, for old time's sake.

Invitation: Today I dug into my memory banks and searched for an important item from my childhood. I know your childhood is slightly more recent than mine (and still happening!), but what is something from when you were little, maybe before Kindergarten, that you just couldn't be without? What was it? What would you do with it? How did it make you feel? Do you still have it around?
